Counter questions
Does Fidelity charge a fee to buy ETFs?
Most online ETF trades at Fidelity are $0. A limited list of ETFs carries a service fee on purchases: 5% of the trade value, capped at $100 per trade. Fidelity’s list dated September 14, 2026 names 437 ETFs.
Is there a fee when I sell?
No. Fidelity’s list says the service fee applies to purchases. Selling a listed ETF does not trigger it.
When does the fee start?
It depends on when the sponsor joined the list. 333 ETFs: added sep 14, 2026 · fee from nov 16, 2026; 78 ETFs: fee since jun 1, 2026; 26 ETFs: fee since nov 3, 2025. Each ticker page shows its own date.
How much is the fee on $1,000?
$50 (5%). On $2,000 or more it hits the $100 cap, so a $10,000 buy also costs $100. Splitting one order into several buys means each buy is charged separately.
